Hi!
I'm Arriane, I'm 27 years old, and this is an introductory type post, to tell you all a little bit about myself, exciting stuff, eh?
I decided to give blogging a try mainly to shed some light on the elusive female gamer, I jest, we're not that elusive, we're pretty common actually!
I started gaming as a child (I suppose most do that) with the Amiga and Sega Megadrive being my most recalled consoles. Obviously when you're very young, you play on these things without a sense of what you are doing, I mostly played silly games with my twin, Qwak, I believe our obsession with gaming showed at a young age, as we pestered our Nanna to buy us Gillet's to match the character's amour, good times! We loved Sonic, Robo Cod, and Micro Machines, but it wasn't really an all enveloping hobby until we were bought a Nintendo 64, and oh boy did things change. As I'm you're you've already guessed, we both became hooked on Ocarina of Time, and I mean, really hooked, to the point where Link was my first crush (you read correctly, a video game character, cringe!).
The Legend of Zelda series is still a huge favourite of mine today, perhaps not as bigger aspect in my gaming life, but it holds a special place, and I will certainly be buying the open world LoZ and Hyrule Warriors when it's released!
These days I am mostly a PC gamer, my husband bought me World of Warcraft in the early days of courtship so he didn't have to log out to chat to me, good job I loved it! It's scary to think we've been playing that game on and off for nine years! Again, WoW is a game close to my heart, I've met my closest buddies playing that game, people who understand the whole gaming thing, many of my friends don't really 'get' it, if that makes sense!
I have a 3DS and I'm also planning to buy a Wii U when funds allow, but these will be casual use, as I spend most of my gaming time playing on the PC, which will be upgraded asap, my old one is on its deathbed and my Laptop cannot handle much more than Warcraft. I'm looking forward to having a decent PC, I would like to start streaming, I have tried on the laptop, but it isn't brilliant to be honest.
I will add some extra bits about myself before signing off. I have a three year old son called Torben, he's an amazing child, and is already taking an interest in his parents hobbies, although we obviously haven't set up an account for him just yet! It can be difficult maintaining a gaming hobby with a young child, I remember nursing him as a newborn whilst playing Call of Duty with my husband, the things you do! These days gaming is mostly reserved for evening times, with the odd 30 minutes or so snuck in when Torben is busy playing on his own. I'm studying a Psychology degree, and I own a jewellery making business, named Nerdgasmic Jewellery, although the business is on the back burner for while due to ill health.
So, signing off for now, feel free to leave a comment with your childhood gaming memories!
